Get sporty at Boston Spa fair

Boston Spa School will be the place to be this week for anyone interested in getting involved in a new sport or becoming more active.

The school off Clifford Moor Road in Wetherby plays host to a sport and active lifestyles fair from 6-8pm on Thursday 27 June, which will see more than 25 organisations including sports clubs and physical activity providers from Boston Spa, Wetherby and the surrounding villages represented.

Organised by Leeds City Council and Boston Spa School, the free event is open for all to attend with taster sessions being held for basketball, football, wall climbing, archery, rugby, hockey, tennis, cycling, golf and bowls. In addition there will be demonstrations of gymnastics and martial arts.

Activities will be taking place both outdoors and indoors, meaning should there be poor weather the event will still be held inside, where there will also be information stalls and demonstrations.

The event forms part of National Schools Sports Week, and will feature an appearance by Leeds Rhinos mascot Ronnie the Rhino.

Leeds City Council executive member for leisure and skills Councillor Lucinda Yeadon said:

“This sport and active lifestyles fair promises to be a fantastic showcase for the range of sport and physical activities available for local people in North East Leeds.

“The event offers the chance to try a sport you always wanted to or to find out about completely new sports in a fun environment, so we look forward to seeing lots of people attending.”
