Get on your bikes for a summer of fun with Breeze on tour

Breeze on Tour is ready to blaze a trail across Leeds this summer offering young people throughout the city the chance to have a go at a wide range of exciting activities on their doorstep.

Beginning at Temple Newsam today, the free annual roadshow event run by Leeds City Council for young people of all ages, continues a summer of fun activities for children in Leeds.

To celebrate the Tour de France 2014 Grand Depart starting from Leeds Town Hall, this year Breeze on Tour will feature a bike skills and competition area to help youngsters perfect their biking skills. Children and young people can bring their own bike to any Breeze event and test their balance and control skills on a cycle assault course. Learn about Bike Passports with the police cycling officer, then leave their bike in the secure bike park and enjoy all of the other activities that Breeze has to offer.

As well as the cycle assault courses there will also be an opportunity to take part in the Sprint Roller competition - the winner of the day in each category will win the Green Jersey. The overall winner at the end of the Breeze on Tour will take the coveted Breeze Yellow Jersey.

Breeze on Tour and Mini Breeze give young people the chance to get outside, have new experiences and have a laugh with their friends. Travelling around different locations throughout the city the events are free and provides art, physical challenge, performance, play, sport and information zones.

Children and young people aged up to 19 can just turn up with their Breezecard and can get in for free at every location on every day. There's a whole load of different activities including dancing, arts and crafts, music, football, giant inflatables, DJing, movie making, performances from international and local artists and bands, competitions.

Councillor Lucinda Yeadon, executive member responsible for leisure and skills said:

“As ever, Breeze is bringing a whole host of exciting activities to banish the boredom during the summer holidays. This year youngsters will even be able to embrace Tour de France fever and try to win their own yellow jersey, just like Chris Froome!”

“Making sure children and young people have lots to do to keep them busy and their minds active over the school holidays is an important part of our aim to be a child friendly city. Breeze on tour and mini Breeze bring a whole host of new activities right to your doorstep so don’t miss out!
