Experience Christmas at Kirkgate after hours at the Night Market

Visitors to Leeds historic Kirkgate Market will enjoy an extra special treat when it once again opens its doors after dark, for a special festive Night Market.

Thursday 21 December will be the next chance to visit the popular #KirkLate Night Market, when the events space and food hall section of Kirkgate will once again open until 11pm.

Councillor Jonathan Pryor, lead member for markets said:

“Following on from the fantastic success of the first two night markets which saw thousands of visitors experiencing Kirkgate after-hours we will be hosting a special festive Night Market next Thursday.

“The Night Market is a great opportunity for visitors to discover some of the market’s popular traders whilst enjoying a night out with friends or family, and opens up the market to a whole new customer base.”

Even more pop-up stalls will be taking part this month, joining the existing popular food stalls, including food-to-go, fresh produce and bars, as well as entertainment for the whole family. Musical entertainment will be provided by a live DJ and singer-songwriter Cat Una.

Manjit, from Manjit’s kitchen will be announcing the winners of her charity raffle at this week’s Night Market. Manjit’s raffle is raising money for the charity Simon on the Streets and has so far raised almost £5000. There are 100 prizes from leading independent businesses from all over the city. Tickets are available from a number of outlets in the city including Manjit’s Kitchen in Kirkgate Market and outlaws Yacht Club.

Cat Una bio

Cat Una has blossomed from a humble solo acoustic singer-songwriter into a mature act adding new members to her band that have each perfected their instruments thus giving her live shows a new depth and excitement . "Cat has a voice that will sing you to sleep and then stab you in the heart" .With that comes a whole new sound that is reminiscent of the smooth band you would find in a 1920’s smoke-filled jazz bar; and it’s a breath of fresh air against the hoards of alternative-indie bands that dominate the Leeds music scene. Following on from recently supporting the BBC 6 Music favourite Tom Williams on tour, Cat-Una has released three e.p.'s on Monomyth Records and in turn gained support from the BBC resulting in a Live Lounge session of her own.
