Doors of Lotherton Hall house set to reopen at weekend

Caption: The doors of Lotherton Hall will reopen this Saturday.

A popular Leeds Edwardian country house is set to reopen its doors to the public later this weekend.

Situated near Aberford, Lotherton Hall, which was once home to the Gascoigne family, will once again be available to visit from Saturday March 1 2014 following a range of improvements and maintenance works undertaken to the house as part of its annual New Year spring clean. Set to feature this year in the house is a new interactive game which will allow visitors to follow the travels of the Gascoigne’s abroad, as well as new discovery chests for youngsters. The popular dressing up room has had a complete makeover and has fantastic new outfits to try on. New sound and aroma interpretation in the period rooms help you get the feel of what it was like living and working here.

Boasting attractions which include two play areas, a deer park, bird garden, shops and stables, Lotherton Hall is also the home to a number of collections which will be improved even further in March 2015 as the hall becomes the home of the Leeds Fashion Collections located in the existing exhibition galleries.

Councillor Lucinda Yeadon, Leeds City Council’s executive member for leisure & skills said:

"It is really great news that our fantastic Edwardian house Lotherton Hall, will reopen its doors to visitors on March 1 following its annual spring clean.

"The attractions on offer really are fantastic, and with even more features added this year, there really is something for all the family to enjoy at Lotherton."
