Don’t miss out on chance to play a discounted round of golf at two public courses

Golfers in Leeds are being offered the opportunity to enjoy a discounted round at two of the city’s public courses.

As part of the special offer, golfers can play a round at both Roundhay and Temple Newsam golf courses on Monday-Friday for just £9.90 (standard fee £13.15) and £13.15 (standard fee £16.50) over the weekend until 31 March 2016. With interest sure to be high golfers are asked to book early, especially at a weekend.

Temple Newsam Golf Club which was founded in 1923, is one of the most historic in the city. The two 18-hole courses at the club, the Lord Irwin and Lady Dorothy, were designed by Alister MacKenzie, who was also the creator of the world famous Augusta National course in Georgia, USA, which each year is home to the prestigious US Masters tournament.

For those who prefer a shorter round of golf, they can test their mettle and skills at the classic nine-hole Roundhay course. Perfect for the both the beginner and experienced golfer, a par score at Roundhay is a challenging 70.

Councillor Debra Coupar, Leeds City Council’s executive member for communities said:

“It’s important that we encourage people to come out and use the council’s golf courses and this is a great initiative to try and do just that. Hopefully the offer of a discounted round will see people who haven’t played golf before have a go for the first time and go on to become regular users of the course."
