Multi-award-winning trumpet player, Alison Balsom, is set to perform at Leeds Town Hall on Tuesday October 7.
Inspired by Paris and the seasons, Alison, as part of her first headline tour, will play a range of music from expressive classical, such as Debussy’s stunning Syrinx and Satie’s beautiful Gymnopedie 3, to swinging jazz, including Brown’s lively Joy Spring and Gershwin’s famous Someone to Watch Over Me.
As one of the most highly regarded trumpeters and exciting classical musicians of a generation, Alison has spent the last decade performing in some of the world’s most prestigious venues, and collected a number of illustrious awards. Named winner of the Nordoff Robbins PPL Classical Award in 2013, the Hertfordshire-born performer also has three Classical BRITs to her name, including Female Artist of the Year in 2009 and 2011. Alison was also the first ever classical female artist to headline Latitude Festival last summer.
An ensemble fusing the jazz and the Classical spectrums together, and bringing to life the many sounds that only the trumpet is capable of creating, will also join Alison on stage, in what promises to be a night of entertainment not to be missed.
Tickets for this concert are priced at £15 - £32.50 and are available from the Box Office on 0113 224 3801 or book online at www.leedstownhall.co.uk
Councillor Lucinda Yeadon, Leeds City Council’s executive member for digital and creative technologies, culture and skills said:
"We are delighted that award-winning artist Alison Balsom has chosen to perform at Leeds Town Hall as part of her first headline tour.
"This promises to be a really fantastic night, and we would ask that people book their tickets as soon as possible to avoid any disappointment."
