Six Leeds City Council public bonfires all set to light up Bonfire Night

Six large community bonfires will once again mark Bonfire Night in style this year in Leeds.

In what is always an occasion not to be missed for all the family, free public bonfires organised by Leeds City Council will be held in the following locations; East End Park; Roundhay Park; Woodhouse Moor; Springhead Park in Rothwell; Middleton Park and Bramley Park on Tuesday, November 5. As is tradition, a wonderful and safe firework display will accompany and provide a rousing conclusion to each of the six events.

Regularly attracting a huge crowd of over 70,000 people, the bonfire at Roundhay Park is the largest to be held in the city. Situated on Soldiers Field, the bonfire will be lit at 7.30pm and followed by a firework display at 8pm. Media partner Radio Aire will also be on hand to compere the stage show and entertain the audience.

A special thank you to White Rose Shopping Centre who once again will be sponsoring the bonfires at

Middleton Park and Rothwell Springhead Park. Both these bonfires along with those at East End Park, Bramley Park and Woodhouse Moor, will be lit at 7pm, with fireworks commencing at 7.30pm. Opportunities are still available to sponsor the remaining bonfires and benefit from a range of promotional and advertising opportunities. In the interests of safety, visitors are kindly asked to relax and please leave their own fireworks and sparklers at home, as they enjoy a fantastic feast of colour and entertainment on the night.

Councillor Mohammed Rafique, Leeds City Council’s executive member for environment and active lifestyles, said:

“We are once again extremely proud to offer the people of Leeds six fantastic and free bonfires which will be held across the city to celebrate Bonfire Night.

“Bonfire Night is always a magical occasion in our city, and we know that generations of families have grown up attending our free public community bonfires, which is something that fills us with great pride. We are looking forward to great crowds at all of our bonfires, which will be rounded off with amazing firework displays, held in a wonderful and safe atmosphere across our parks. The crowds seem to be getting even bigger each year, so we do ask that people arrive early to avoid any disappointment.

“I would also like to thank our media partner Radio Aire for giving their support to the Roundhay Park bonfire, and the White Rose Shopping Centre for again sponsoring the events at Rothwell and Middleton. Last but certainly not least, a huge thank you to every member of our parks and countryside team for organising each of these events and for their hard work on the night.”
