New name and exciting new times for West Leeds Activity Centre

People from across the city are being invited to try out the exciting free activities on offer at the newly named West Leeds Activity Centre next weekend.

Visitors to West Leeds Activity Centre, formally known as Armley Lazer Centre, will be able to take part in a wide variety of fun free activities at the open day on Saturday 15 October between 12pm and 4pm.

A host of free entertainment and activities will be on offer including motorcycling, a motorised buggy, sumo wrestling, Tug ‘O’ War, go karting, waterslide, assault course, touch and pass rugby and climbing walls. Both motorcycling and the motorised buggy do need to be booked in advance on the day.

Members of the media are invited to attend the open day at the West Leeds Activity Centre where Cllr Lisa Mulherin will perform a ribbon cutting ceremony to formally launch the new name for the centre. Players from Leeds Rhinos will also be in attendance. Photos and interviews will be available.

Special guests from Leeds Rhinos and Leeds Rhinos Foundation will also be attending the open day event with their skill zone passing cage and rugby league skill sessions as well as guest appearances from squad players and Ronnie the Rhino.

Councillor Lisa Mulherin, executive member for children and families said

“The West Leeds Activity Centre offers an amazing range of activities which is easily accessible from across the city and right in the heart of the Armley community. We want as many people as possible to come and see what the centre is all about and have a go at some of these fun and exciting activities. The open day will be a fantastic day for all the family and an opportunity for people to gain an understanding of the range of different activities we provide.”

In addition to the many activities on offer, those who wish to keep their feet on the ground can relax with tea and a variety of free refreshments including burgers and hot dogs, whilst the more adventurous can try the climbing walls and leap of faith or the range of inflatables on offer.

The West Leeds Activity Centre has gone from strength to strength since opening in 2001. It delivers a wide range of indoor and outdoor activities, including high and low level climbing, Go-Karting, BMXing, mountain and motor biking, survival skills, archery and bus​hcraft, as well as a full range of indoor sports and activities and camping facilities. The 17-acre outdoor activity centre just a few miles from Leeds city centre on the edge of Gotts Park and Golf Course in Armley, also specialises in team building activities for schools and youth groups as well as corporate away days, children’s birthday parties and private group events.
