London Bridge terror attack: statement from Leeds City Council Leader

Councillor Judith Blake, Leader of Leeds City Council, said:

“I am deeply saddened to be talking about such appalling acts less than a fortnight after the atrocity at Manchester Arena that cost so many lives and indeed the previous horrific Westminster attack less than three months ago.

“At that time I wrote to the Mayor of London Sadiq Khan on behalf of Leeds to offer our condolences and deep support as a city and I will be doing so again.”

Notes to editors:

Flags are flying at half-mast on the main civic buildings in Leeds, and plans are being made to light them up red, white and blue in solidarity with London either tonight or tomorrow. A book of condolence will also be opened.
