Enjoy the magic of Bonfire Night at one of Leeds City Council’s six public bonfires

Six public bonfires are set to be held across Leeds this week to mark November 5.

People of all ages are once again invited to join in the fun and enjoy a fantastic and safe firework display at one of the six bonfires organised by Leeds City Council, which this year will be held at Roundhay Park, East End Park, Springhead Park in Rothwell, Woodhouse Moor, Middleton Park and Bramley Park.

Attracting an estimated crowd of 70,000 people each year is Leeds’ biggest bonfire held at Roundhay Park. The bonfire on Soldiers Field will be lit at 7.30pm and followed as always by a thrilling firework display at 8pm.

The bonfires at Bramley Park, Springhead Park, Woodhouse Moor, Middleton Park (sponsored by Land Securities at the White Rose Shopping Centre) and East End Park will be lit at 7pm, with fireworks at 7.30pm.

Visitors to each of the council’s bonfires are encouraged in the interests of safety, to leave their own fireworks and sparklers at home and enjoy the entertainment provided by the council.

Councillor Debra Coupar, Leeds City Council’s executive member for communities said:

“Our public bonfires are always a great way to enjoy the festivities of November 5, and I am delighted to say that this year we will once again be hosting six great events across the city.

“The crowds that we attract to each of our bonfires are always large, and with that in mind we would ask people to arrive early so they can enjoy all the fun and not miss out on our fantastic firework displays.

“An amazing amount of hard work is undertaken every year behind the scenes to arrange each event, and once again I would like to personally thank all our council staff, sponsors and partners who play their part in this memorable night.”

Nikki Appleton, marketing manager for White Rose Shopping Centre said:

"We are delighted to continue our sponsorship and association with this great community event, which is always enjoyed by so many people."
